SAP Surpasses Milestone in Product Strategy

Enhancement Package Model Drives Massive Adoption of SAP ERP 6.0

(July 8, 2008) - SAP announced a historic landmark in its product release strategy: The latest release of its enterprise resource planning (ERP) application, SAP ERP, has been selected or installed by more than 10,000 customers, including Bank of America, Brazilian petrochemical company Braskem, and Kraft Foods. In addition, independent analyst firm Gartner recently ranked SAP as the 2007 Market Share leader in the ERP category with a market share of 27.5 percent, surpassing the second-ranked vendor who was ranked at 13.9 percent.1

The new leaders assume their roles as Erwin Gunst, formerly president of SAP EMEA, and Bill McDermott, formerly president and CEO of Americas & Asia Pacific Japan, assume new executive positions within the company and officially join the Executive Board of SAP AG as previously announced on April 2, 2008.

(July 8, 2008) - SAP announced that Kabel BW has selected the latest version of the SAP Customer Relationship Management application, SAP CRM 2007, to strengthen its connection to customers and build its foundation for future growth. The company, which serves more than 2.3 million subscribers, also plans to enhance its existing deployment of SAP's flagship enterprise resource planning application, SAP ERP, with the industry- specific SAP solution for telecommunications providers, the SAP Revenue Management and Contract Accounting application. The objectives of its modernization efforts are to streamline the company's customer service and ultimately deliver superior customer value.

When two people are attempting to collaborate asynchronously, e-mail is usually the best solution. It's certainly far less frustrating than phone tag. But once more people are involved, email's utility rapidly degenerates. While the rise of free, open-source solutions makes it tempting to build one's own collaboration tools, on-demand or Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions are the better choice for the majority of users and uses.

(July 8, 2008) - "It's certainly a device that has energized the digitization of books," said Tim McCall, vice president of online sales at Penguin Group USA, referring to Amazon's Kindle electronic book device. McCall was quoted at the weekend in the San Francisco Chronicle Saturday. Steve Weinstein, an analyst with Pacific Crest in Portland, Oregon, told the Chronicle that Amazon has sold 40,000 units so far this year, could sell between 700,000 and 800,000 of the devices by the end of 2008, and may well hit $2.5 billion in sales by 2012.
